Why does Hospice have to raise money?

The proceeds from annual events such as the Friends of Hospice Membership Drive, Geranium & Flag Sale, "Light up a Life"; Contributions including memorial gifts; and United Way, support our mission of providing quality end-of-life care in our community.

Patients served

In 2004, Hospice provided services to 139 patients and their families. Hospice cared for an average of 14 patients per day.

Insurance Reimbursement

Insurance Reimbursement is our primary source of patient revenue. For each patient, Hospice receives a daily insurance rate for patient care. Drug costs often exceed this daily rate.

Community Support

Hospice significantly depends on community support and fundraising efforts to assist in bridging the gap between insurance reimbursement and the actual cost of patient care. Services are never denied because of inability to pay. Only through the generosity of our community can Hospice continue to make this quality care possible.

How do I make a donation or memorial?

1. Make check payable to: Hospice of the Finger Lakes
2. Include a note indicating who the gift is in memory/honor of 
3. Please include the name and address of the family member you wish to notify of your donation (the amount is never mentioned)

We will promptly:

1. Acknowledge your gift and send a receipt 
2. Notify the person(s) whom you requested we notify of your thoughtful memorial
